Position Summary

Directly responsible for Supervising the daily activities of the machine shop. Responsible for supervising workers performing machine shop tasks involving programming, set up and operation of tools on various types of machines. Oversees the machining of production and prototype parts using CNC mills and lathes and various manual machines, drill presses, or similar tools. Manages the utilization of equipment, facilities, and personnel to obtain maximum efficiency to meet performance objectives in machining area. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the production and prototyping of various machined parts. Directly responsible for training and developing the programming processes and strategies to meet the changing technology. This is a day shift position. Tuesday - Friday.

What You Will Do

  • Trains CNC machining personnel in programming methods, processes and strategies to meet the changing technology.
  • Directly supervises CNC Machine Shop employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Applies knowledge of CNC machine shop procedures, machine tool setup and operating techniques, and production machining methods in the Department.
  • Evaluates and recommends specific parts to machine.
  • Provides administrative support to all Departments to ensure necessary parts are available for machining process from machining area.
  • Abides by all Company safety and health policies and procedures. Uses personal protective equipment if required.
  • Aware of and conforms to Company ISO goals and objectives and supports ISO requirements.
  • Aware of and actively participates in company’s Lean philosophy of continuous improvement.
  • Develops and controls and monitors department level process procedures, operations and set-up instructions.
  • Conducts department level in-process inspections and maintains product identification.
  • Provides department level training for personnel performing work affecting product quality and ensures each employee is competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
  • Develops and controls intradepartmental process procedures and maintains intradepartmental production equipment.
  • Provides intradepartmental training and special process validation for its personnel.
  • Collects data and analysis of identified CNC machine shop metrics.
  • Sets up new hires in system, coordinates new hire orientation.
  • Manages payroll through Kronos and Compass, to manage time off, payable hours, sick time, vacation, etc.
  • Coaches employees in accordance with company Talent Management process including performance reviews, coaching sessions, etc.
  • Reviews daily show and employee performance metrics/summaries
  • Develops business plan justifications for all machine shop Capital equipment, equipment service/parts, and perishable manufacturing tooling/supplies to include machine selection and new technologies.

What Will Help You Be Successful

•    Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in a CNC machining environment with degree. Will accept minimum twelve (12) years’ experience in a CNC machining environment in lieu of degree.
•    Minimum 8 years’ experience with increasing managerial/supervisorial duties required
•    Prefer related job experience in both manual and CNC machining setup, operation and programming.
•    Experience using machining shop software to include job planning, performance metrics.
•    Proficient using CAM software (Espirit preferred)
