Position Summary

This position acts as a training facilitator and technical resource for Controlled Environment Certification Services (CECS) personnel. The position’s primary purpose will be a professional support resource to the CECS service business, helping to ensure that the services offered are performed according to STERIS, manufacturers, and industry standards. Several mediums may provide the training support: live in-person visiting all of the CECS offices, remotely via computer/Microsoft TEAMS or teleconference, or on-demand web-based education programs.  The Training Specialist works closely with Field Service Technical staff to manage appropriate documentation and service improvement ideas identified through the course of performing technical support. You will collaborate with the CECS management staff to fulfill the Training needs of the Certification Technicians and attend Joint Committee meetings with Certification Industry groups that develop new Certification Testing Standards to be on the cutting edge. Qualified candidates should have the ability to travel 30% on an annual basis.


  • Provides technical and troubleshooting guidance for Quality Assurance and Report Department related to technical testing issues. Also, provides technical and troubleshooting while manning the CECS support phone line.
  • Provides technical training support for all of CECS offices and territories, develop training curriculum, coordinates training schedules and material support for all classroom training. Performs or records lectures on general and technical subject matters related to technical training goals. Manage training records and progression of written and practical testing, and completion of department personnel to enable the group to achieve targeted training and service levels. 
  • Gathers important Data points within multiple Industry Standards to Develop, maintain, and executes on-line (live or on-demand) training progression courses for CECS service groups through computer/TEAMS or to include: Certification, or other programs as deemed necessary by CECS / STERIS management. 
  • Assist and provide guidance with the maintenance and updates of technical documentation files for all equipment serviced and support programs to make this information more accessible to field-personnel. 

Required Experience

  • Associate degree preferred. Will accept minimum of eight (8) training experience and completed Cert Tech Level I & II training in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of learning courses taught in an engaging and facilitating environment.  Will need courses taught, dates and locations, manner of teaching, number of course attendees.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of practical or knowledge-based experience in the testing, reporting, service or repair of both electronic and electromechanical BSC and Cleanroom equipment
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of BSC / cleanroom-specific equipment is preferred.
  • Must have at least two (2) years Customer interface technical / service/quality experience.
  • Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and on-line training development.
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and public relations skills.  Must be engaging and facilitator of learning.
  • Individuals may be required to produce and deliver a short training seminar as part of the initial evaluation for job competency.
