Position Summary

Responsible for conceptual development, management, and final results of complex engineering projects designed to improve operational performance, reduce cost, enhance safety, or establish compliance. Provides guidance and direction to other Project Engineers and serves as technical expert for multiple projects. Must be able to manage multiple complex projects across multiple sites concurrently. 

This is a remote role with the expectation of frequent travel up to 70%

What You'll Do as Process Engineer

  • Uses technical capacity to collect and analyze data, and based on findings, makes improvements and modifications to current technologies.
  • Facilitates process reviews, processing methods, equipment, and training to drive improvement in efficiency and reduction in waste.
  • Utilizes statistical tools and lean principles to identify root causes and improve processes (Process capability, Pareto analysis, SPC, etc.).
  • Provides guidance for chartering of kaizen events.
  • Monitors progress of process improvements to ensure achievement of expected tangible benefits.
  • Identifies ways to optimize and improve processing performance providing feedback to operations leadership when procedures are not correct.
  • Assists Operations Leadership and production employees in resolving process problems through a drive to root cause and permanent corrective action 8-step Process.
  • Implements mistake-proofing methods and develop workstation aids to assist in operations job performance.
  • Assists production to troubleshoot process issues for improvement and sustainment.
  • Provides for personal protection by using personal protective equipment and/or monitoring devices as required by safety rules, conditions and job task.
  • Exhibits a commitment to the AST shared values of Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement through ensuring defect-free workmanship, assisting others to meet the Customer’s needs, searching for efficient and effective ways to reduce waste, being active and accountable for Customer satisfaction, and satisfying the Customer’s needs with a sense of urgency.
  • Contributes in a team effort by performing according to the guidelines outlined in the STERIS Code of Business Conduct, the GMP, Lean principles and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher level management and performs other duties as assigned.

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Necessary

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. 
  • Minimum of 1 years of related Engineering experience required. 
  • Requires ability to read, interpret, and practically apply mechanical drawings, process drawings, P & IDs. 
  • Understanding of process equipment such as HVAC, pumps, fans, chillers, process piping, vacuum pumps, boilers, and heat exchangers. 
  • Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision. 
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications; knowledge of MS Project and AutoCAD or similar software programs. 
  • Ability to contribute to failure investigations and process improvemen initiatives. 
  • Must be adaptable to changing duties and responsibilities. 
  • Able to evaluate issues and communicate recommendations. 
  • Must be able to travel domestically. 

Pay range for this opportunity is $79,687.50 - $103,125.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
