Position Summary

Oversees the management and facilitates production and quality within a STERIS Offsite Reprocessing Center (ORC), Outsource facility, or Customer account.  Ensures Customer expectations are met by pro-actively managing activities and complying with contractual obligations. Provides on-site support, training, and communication to employees and contracted facilities sterile processing department management and personnel. .  Ensures SPD compliance with STERIS QMS policies and procedures as well as the Department of Health, TJC, DNV, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards.

Duties

LEADERSHIP
1.    Ability to develop and manage an engaged team to provide excellent day-to-day service that meets the Customer’s needs and contractual obligations
2.    Focused on continuous improvement and possesses the ability to engage and coach employees to achieve improvements
3.    Interviews, hires, assists with training, and coaching employees to meet company objectives and Customer requirements
4.    Possesses the ability to build and maintain a culture of Employee Engagement and Retention through regular communication and on-going training
5.    Determine the appropriate staff mix and properly align staff with fluctuating demand 

CUSTOMERS
1.    Ensures delivery of Customer Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and conducts regularly scheduled Customer Pulse Check meetings to review quality metrics and ensure expectations are being met 
2.    Maintains professional relationships with all Customer stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient support to the patient caregivers as it relates to the scope of the contract and coaches front-line leadership to do the same
3.    Develop higher level relationships within the Customer organization including but not limited to OR Managers, Directors & V.P.’s
4.    Resolves client issues in a timely and efficient manner
5.    Demonstrates a complete understanding of the contract(s) and supports with educating and training Customer leadership in all aspects of contracted services

OPERATIONS/PROCESSES
1.    Demonstrates complete understanding of the STERIS standard processes and possesses the ability to implement and hold the team accountable through leadership routines
2.    Develops and executes project plan weekly to ensure target dates are met and barriers identified
3.    Ensures proper operational processes are followed by all members of the STERIS team in conjunction with STERIS QMS policies and procedures as well as the Department of Health, TJC, DNV, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, AORN standards and facilities policies and procedures
4.    Ensures accuracy and completeness of all administrative documents and functions (time records, count sheets, inventories, billing, etc.) required by the Customer and STERIS
5.    Manages an operating budget for STERIS and understands that all decisions can have a financial impact and manages within the budget
6.    Uses Non-conformance documentation to identify areas of deficiencies and creates Corrective Action Plans to manage improvement

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  1. Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (4+ Years)
  2. Must have experience in process management and quality control (3+ Year)
  3. Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM required. If not certified at point of hire, it must be obtained within 12 months of hire
  4. Sterile Processing Department (SPD) management must maintain no less than eighteen (18) hours continuing education (or other equivalent educational activity) annually to include six (6) hours dedicated to leadership and/or management and three (3) hours dedicated to infection prevention and control

 

Preferred Experience

  1. Instrument tracking software and employee management system experience a plus (4+ Years)
  2. Medical instrument knowledge a plus (4+ Years)
  3. Excels at managing medium to large SPDs and hospital settings or within an offsite reprocessing center (3+ Years)

Skills

  1. Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  2. Ability to apply critical thinking during times of need
  3. Possess an understanding of accountability tools - Coaching documents, MBOs, Performance Reviews
  4. Ability to stay calm and maintain a high level of professionalism under high pressure situations
  5. Ability to conduct root cause analysis
  6. Ability to build project plans

 Pay range for this opportunity is $78,500.00 - $109,987.50.This position is eligible for bonus.

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.

Full-Time employees are eligible for four weeks of paid parental leave. Part-time employees also receive paid parental leave, pro-rated based on their standard hourly work week.
