Position Summary
After spending six to nine months in the field with senior technicians and successfully completing a training class, a Certification Technician I independently tests a wide variety of HEPA-filtered devices such as biological safety cabinets and chemical fume hoods at Customer sites. Responsibilities include effectively communicating results and ensuring Customer satisfaction. This position also supports cleanroom certification projects working under the supervision of a senior technician.
This is a remote based customer facing position. To support and service our customers in this assigned territory candidates must be based out of one of the following states: New York
Duties
- Performs routine certification and repairs of devices that contain HEPA filters and cleanrooms at Customer sites. This includes disassembling, replacing, or repairing defective parts; rewiring or reassembling as required; troubleshooting, and adjusting/calibrating by using standard and specialized tools and test equipment. (20-40%)
- May perform specialty work such as ASHRAE 110 fume hood testing, National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) accredited certifications, VHP® room decontamination, Environmental Monitoring (EM), or compressed air testing upon successful completion of optional internal or external training classes. (0-20%)
- Utilizes computer technology to record and upload testing data preferably while at the Customer site. Performs administrative duties promptly as assigned. (10%)
- Follows Customer protocols when entering and exiting facilities and abides by all STERIS and Customer Health & Safety procedures. Acts as a positive ambassador for STERIS at Customer sites. (10%)
- Ensures Customer satisfaction through proactive communication and commitment to resolving Customer issues and answering questions. (10%)
- Communicates regularly with lead technicians, dispatch, and management regarding any changes to the expected schedule and outcomes of service visits at Customer sites. (10%)
- Maintains and is responsible for personal tool and testing equipment inventory. (10%)
- Identifies potential business growth opportunities and communicates leads to management and sales. (10%)
Education Degree
Required Experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a Customer facing position
- Safety mindset
- Strong communication skills
- Technical aptitude
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with computers and Windows software
- Organizational skills
- Ability to work well independently and in team environments
- Good driving record and valid license
- Must be able to be compliant with hospital/customer credentialing requirements
Pay range for this opportunity is $20.84 - $27.37. This position is eligible for bonus.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
