Position Summary

  • Develops project business under the policies and procedures of STERIS Work with Capital IPT, Surgical and Endoscopy teams to promote project development and increase awareness of STERIS full portfolio of products and services
  • To optimize STERIS’s products and services for their territory  where renovations, expansions or other systems project opportunities exist.

Duties

  • Secures sales of STERIS products by organizing, controlling and being responsible for all projects for Capital in assigned territory.  The term of his/her direction, control and responsibilities shall not terminate until all of STERIS’ responsibilities have been executed with the customer.
  • Calls upon health care architects, engineers  and consultants in the assigned territory on a scheduled basis, for the purpose of influencing and controlling equipment recommendations and specifications.
  • Develops a close working relationship with the decision-making apparatus of federal,  Provincial and public health care agencies for the purpose of developing their preference for STERIS equipment.
  • Provides the Systems Project Group Management and Market Managers valid, factual data that could lead to developing new systems or upgrading existing systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Other activities of the Project Design Manager include, but are not limited to:
  • Reviews registered projects monthly with the Regional Directorby sales territory and establish the list of prospects to be followed up by the Project Design Manager with the Sales Representative and/or Region Sales Manager/Director of Sales.

  • Assists the Sales Representative, and Director of Sales in the development of projects.
  • Provides exposure to all employees regarding all STERIS Project applications.
  • Directs the Sales Team in the promotion, development and sales of large packaged projects as assigned by the Director of Sales with the intent of closing at greater margins.
  • Develops a prospect list in conjunction with the Director of Sales.
  • Arranges and performs project presentations to hospitals, architects and consultants and determine the applicability of systems to specific projects.
  • Performs feasibility studies to determine the applicability of systems to specific projects.
  • Assists in general product sales, as requested by Directors of Sales or as deemed necessary where project expertise may increase profitability of such sales or to overcome competitive success.
  • Attends and participate in regional meetings as directed by the Manager, Systems Project Group, or Director of Sales.
  • Assists in the start-up and demonstration of completed projects.

  • Initiates Project Registrations per approved procedure.
  • Conducts studies and collects necessary data for project development and design.  Obtains master program, architect’s program and/or consultant’s program and extract pertinent data.  Establishes and/or develops functional design criteria, parameters and conventions with customer designated personnel. (I do not believe we get involved with Permits?, other than monitoring the timeframe)
  • Makes formal presentations of studies, surveys and obtains customer approval of study results and formal project proposals.
  • Secures purchase orders in conjunction with Sales Employees for projects and necessary data for the preparation of bidding documents and/or working drawings.
  • Coordinates all Project Group activity with customer designated personnel to ensure smooth transition of project cycle through working drawings, bidding state, installation stage and customer acceptance.
  • Assists Project Administrator in the explanation and implementation of post order activities and provide back-up support on post order functions when requests to do so by Director of Sales.
  • Collaborates with the US based PDM Group

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  1. University degree preferred i.e. Project Management, Engineering, Business 
  2. Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  3. 7 - 10 years’ sales experience in the healthcare market.
  4. Strong understanding of Hospital and Private Surgical Centre design, specifically in the areas of MDRD, Surgical, Endoscopy
  5. Ability to communicate effectively.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be seen as an expert.
  7. Strong Mechanical aptitude
  8. We work with Mechanical engineers, equipment planners, project managers, construction personal. We need to provide a greater level of support and comfort to our Customers and have a thorough understanding of these functions. It is imperative that our Account Managers have the experience and are considered trusted advisors
  9. Extensive Time management and Organizational skills required to maintain a high level of service for all customers internal and external.
