The Role

The Distribution Center Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, cost-effective receiving, and shipping of finished goods. In this role, the Distribution Center Supervisor  will ensure high levels of customer service and satisfaction by coordinating supply chain activities with the Manufacturing, Planning and Sourcing groups.  In addition, you will maintain appropriate and accurate record keeping and data management systems and is an effective liaison with transportation providers and internal and external customers.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure proper operation of equipment by training operators on equipment use, requisitioning needed equipment maintenance, and  ensuring equipment is maintained in a clean working order.
  • Establish, maintain, and promote positive employee relations, while maintaining productivity, attendance, and general order required for an efficient operation. 
  • Ensure daily cycle counts are taken and provide Senior Distribution Manager/Director with monthly reports on outcome.
  • Work with cross functional groups to ensure traffic between warehouse points and customers is coordinated and managed optimally.
  • Assists in the establishment of performance objectives.  Promotes positive employee relations.  Maintains training matrix and ensures employees are up to date on these requirements.
  • Responsible for receipt of finished goods and/or shipments to domestic and international customers and distributors.
  • Coordinate activities and provide direction to employees in charge of daily operations.
  • Develop and/or maintain the required material handling procedures and work instructions for the department.
  • Ensure required daily production requirements are aligned with Customer requirements.

  • Maintain and supervise appropriate inventory record keeping. Provide input for warehouse design and logistics.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by instructing employees on established safety practices and enforcing practices at all times. Ensure that emergency equipment, electrical panels, and exits are regularly monitored and free from obstructions.
  • Coordinate and lead special projects affecting domestic warehouse operations.
  • Maintain 5S/SQDC boards and implement Lean initiatives to improve productivity. 

What You Will Need to be Successful

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field. In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma, or equivalent, and 5-10 years warehouse experience.
  • Minimum (3) years related supervisory or leadership experience (warehousing, domestic transportation and shipping/receiving).  
  • Effective time management and ability to respond to shifting priorities. 
  • Ability to work effectively against deadlines and handle several tasks/projects simultaneously while meeting or exceeding performance standards

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in an FDA controlled facility.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with Lean concepts in an operations, distribution center, logistics or warehouse environment.
  • Experience with handling, storing, and shipping hazardous materials.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and react appropriately with shifting priorities and rapid change.
  • Demonstrated high level of performance, professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.
