Position Summary

Responsible for supervising and directing a team of Manufacturing Engineers from different disciplines to drive Engineering projects on assigned Value Stream (welding, fabrication and assembly). Responsible to define Manufacturing systems, estimate and manage capital expenses, select machinery and equipment, propose design changes and manage projects from scoping phase to implementation. Responsible to lead and implement Lean Manufacturing projects to significantly optimize Manufacturing processes.  Maximizes efficiency of manufacturing facility by analyzing layout of equipment, material flow, assembly methods, and work force utilization. Provides necessary input to develop cost and prepare manufacturing specifications for various operations/work stations.  Recommends and implements design changes to improve reliability, manufacturability and cost.  Familiar with a variety of the industry’s concepts, practices, and procedures.

 

Duties

 

  • Supervises and directs a group of 3 to 5 Manufacturing, Design and/or Industrial Engineers in support of the Manufacturing Facility, with responsibilities for developing and maintaining the manufacturing methods, routing, labor standards, and tooling specifications for parts and products manufactured in the plant.
  • Evaluates, selects and implement machinery, tools and equipment required for existing or new Manufacturing processes or product lines for the full Value Stream 
  • Estimates and manages capital expense projects for new production lines, machinery and equipment based on Lean principles, production demand requirements and existing capabilities.
  • Supervises and manages the portfolio of Manufacturing projects assigned to his direct reports. Assign priorities based on operational goals and short-term / mid-term needs.
  • Leads Lean Manufacturing projects from scoping phase to implementation into production.
  • Drives Innovation and Creativity within his team, develops and implements Custom Equipment and Machinery, promotes team work and drives cross-functional alignment towards operational excellence.
  • Evaluate, select and apply Manufacturing Engineering techniques to determine effective and economical methods, systems, materials, and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to part and/or product specifications.
  • Responsible for the design and operation of integrated systems for the production of high-quality, economically competitive products.
  • Participate in the design process of new products and processes to ensure economy and ease of manufacture, procurement, and servicing.
  • Perform manufacturing studies leading to recommendations for new and improved methods, procedures and equipment utilization.
  • Review and process product documentation pertaining to engineering drawings including initial release and subsequent revisions.  Provide cost estimating, labor standards development, workmanship standards, and other Manufacturing Engineering support for the Manufacturing facility.
  • Review products for the purpose of reducing cost of manufacturing through value analysis, material substitution, process changes, make/buy decisions.  Recommend rearrangement of plant facilities.
  • Develop clear and concise manufacturing specifications/instructions to maintain quality and to assure smooth workflow through the factory.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering General

Required Experience

  1. Minimum 9 to 12 years experience in Manufacturing and / or Design Engineering with progressively more responsibility.
  2. Minimum five (5) years of experience supervising teams of Manufacturing Engineers.
  3. Master’s Degree prefered.
  4. Must be highly proficient on world-class Manufacturing Practices and Lean Principles with proven experience on fabrication (CNC machinery, metal forming / sheet metal), welding / metal joining and/or final product assembly and testing.
  5. Proven experience on CAPEX management, selection and production setup of machinery, tools and equipment, definition and implementation of Manufacturing systems (machinery, material flow, tools, layout, line balance, fixtures, etc).
  6. Proven experience on project management, new product introductions or line transfers.
  7. Medical devices regulations are desirable.
