Position Summary

Join our dynamic R&D team at Steris! We are seeking a senior design engineer with experience in power electronics and motor control, specifically focusing on high-speed BLDC motor for handheld devices. Experience with TI motor drive platform is preferred. As part of this role, you will be involved in all aspects of the product lifecycle, from initial design to manufacturing. Collaboration and teamwork are essential, as you will work closely with colleagues to drive innovation and excellence. This candidate will perform engineering assignments with a focus on software design and electronic circuits and systems while providing leadership to engineering teams and delegates project-wide tasks.

Duties

  • Designs PC Boards and Flexible Circuit Boards for use in the repair of surgical devices.
  • Designs embedded systems with a focus on power systems and motor drive controls.
  • Measures and documents electrical and physical aspects of electronic parts.
  • Measures and characterizes electrical operation of circuits and systems using electrical test equipment.
  • Analyzes and identifies communication protocols used in circuits and systems using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and other various test equipment.
  • Designs equivalent circuits to emulate function and operation of existing electronic components and circuits.
  • Writes software to emulate function and operation of existing electronic components and circuits.
  • Designs programming and tests fixtures for electronic assemblies.
  • Identifies and sources electronic components.
  • Works with vendors to fabricate PCB, Flexible Circuits, electrical cables, and miscellaneous electronic assemblies.
  • Builds, tests, and debugs prototype electronic assemblies.

Education Degree

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years of experience and/or training. 
    • Digital and analog electronic circuit design experience with emphasis on embedded systems for BLDC motor control:
      • Knowhow of motor control systems, especially BLDC 3-phase motors and stepper motors (commutation techniques, back-EMF, sensor and sensor-less control…)
      • Familiarity with various sensing technologies
      • Motor performance characterization
    • Demonstrated knowledge of various electronic communication protocols.
    • Proficient computer aided PCB design (Altium Designer strongly preferred)
    • Proficient in C programming, experience in microcontroller firmware.
    • Some experience in Solid Works Software.
    • Aptitude for hands-on tasks. #LI-KS1

     Pay range for this opportunity is $77,800.00 - $104,727.00. This position is eligible for [BONUS PARTICIPATION] OR a [INSERT COMMISSION RATE RANGE, IF APPLICABLE] commission.

     

    Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.

Full-Time employees are eligible for four weeks of paid parental leave. Part-time employees also receive paid parental leave, pro-rated based on their standard hourly work week.
